Masserias are country homes operating in Puglia both as hotels and working farms that offer educational experiences in addition to their farming activities. This cooking class will be held in one of the area’s most stunning country estates, known for its delicious, organically grown fare and the warm hospitality of its owners.

Originally built as a fortress against the attacks of Saracen pirates, the premises were adapted for agricultural use and turned into a farmhouse by the local lords in the late 17th century. In 1986 the property was purchased by the current owners who undertook a careful renovation project, breathing new life into this historic building. Today the masseria hosts twelve rooms, eight apartments, a swimming pool, an organic farm and a restaurant. The owners pride themselves on offering healthy, nutritious Apulian cuisine to an appreciative clientele, drawn here by an enticing menu that features strictly zero-food-miles products. Indeed all the ingredients used to concoct their dishes are either grown on the farm or sourced from neighbouring estates.

Your chauffeur will meet you at your accommodation and drive you to the masseria. Here, under the guidance of your cooking instructor, your Apulian culinary education will begin. Your host will show you how to create a full-course lunch, using fresh, seasonal ingredients picked from the estate’s gardens. You will discover regional recipes, try out reliable cooking techniques and perfect the skills you need to wow your friends back home at the dinner table.
