Named after the district in which it is situated, in 1980 the San Siro Stadium was officially dedicated to Giuseppe Meazza, one of Italy’s most celebrated soccer icons, who played for both FC Inter and AC Milan and was a two-time World Champion with the Italian national team. Your guide will lead you through this masterpiece of engineering and recount the history of the stadium, from when it first opened in 1926, funded by tire entrepreneur Piero Pirelli, through its successive remodellings in 1935 and 1955, up to the major renovation carried out in 1990 on the occasion of the World Cup. Shared by rival teams Internazionale and AC Milan since 1947, San Siro is a massive 80,000 seat venue hosting an average of two matches per week during the sport season.
Your visit begins as you access the museum, the first Italian museum located inside a stadium, housing a unique collection of memorabilia: authentic shirts, trophies and football shoes that have gained their rightful place within the legendary history of soccer and, most of all, in the hearts of generations of fans. The pieces on display allow visitors to retrace one-hundred years of football through some of the most representative moments, challenges and successes of both AC Milan and FC Inter which are unarguably among the most renowned and title-winning clubs in the world.

Next you will track down the real route taken by football players. You will walk past the mixed zone, wander through the locker rooms of both teams, make your way through the famous entrance tunnel to the field and finally, take in the most exciting view of “La Scala del Calcio” – another of the stadium’s epithets which takes its cue from the city’s famous opera theatre. Relax in the stands and snap your once in a lifetime photos before heading to the San Siro Store. Here sports fans will find a wide range of official merchandise of FC Inter and AC Milan, including jerseys, sweatshirts, pants, shoes, socks, balls and backpacks – a soccer-lover’s paradise!
