This is so much more than just a cooking lesson. It is a culinary adventure, a discovery journey of Mediterranean scents, flavours and tastes, a trip into the traditions and gastronomic heritage of a territory. Combining an outdoor forage through the fields, a hands-on cooking activity, a delicious meal and encounters with like-minded epi-curious travellers, this experience is sure to provide the perfect components of an unforgettably delectable day.

Your private chauffeur will pick you up at your accommodation and drive you to the designated meeting point near Positano. Here you will be greeted by your host, meet your fellow food lovers and begin your day with a pleasant, informative walk on the hills above the town. Your knowledgeable, friendly host will give you a brief overview of local history and agriculture as well as an introduction to the various aromatic plants, wild herbs and flowers that you will gather along the way. Your host’s passion and enthusiasm is contagious. As you will have the chance to see – and savour – it is from this love and syntony with the territory, its fruits and produce that outstanding regional cooking originates.

You will then be welcomed into your host’s family-run farmhouse perched on a hill overlooking the sparkling Tyrrhenian Sea. Together you will sort out your finds and enjoy making a delicious lunch featuring the hand-harvested vegetables and edible greens in combination with a careful selection of other fresh, local ingredients. Tasty inclusions might consist of salad with arugula, bruschetta bread seasoned with tomatoes and sage, omelettes with vegetables, fried zucchini flowers and fresh pasta. Not only will you discover traditional recipes and cooking techniques but you will also gain an understanding of the importance of seasonal cooking, locally sourced produce and respect for the land, founding principles of the slow food philosophy.

Later, take your seat in the terrace and feast on the meal you just prepared. Rather than a lunch your host prefers to call this enlightening experience “a laboratory of taste”. Indeed, as you eat you will learn how to appreciate different flavours, complement and balance food and beverages and distinguish the particular aromas of different types of wines produced in neighbouring vineyards. A final toast with expertly home-made liqueur… here’s to you, Positano!
