TAMING THE PRANCING HORSE

Ferrari test drive in Rome

Live your long awaited Italian dream and experience the thrill of driving a Ferrari through the streets of the Eternal City. Sports car lovers will feel the excitement of sitting behind the steering wheel of this iconic, epoch-making motorsport legend and enjoy unparalleled views of Rome as they ride past its ancient monuments.

Ferrari’s history officially began on March 12, 1947 when automotive visionary Enzo Ferrari took the 125 S out for its first test drive. Since then Ferrari has gained over 5,000 victories and inspired the world of super sports cars with its cutting-edge design, becoming a symbol of luxury and style for generations of drivers. The name is now undisputedly Italy’s most famous brand. Born in Modena in 1898, Mr Ferrari devoted his entire life to designing and creating sports cars. He discovered his passion for racing at the age of 10, when his father took him to watch a competition at a motor racing circuit in Bologna. Rejected as an employee by FIAT, Enzo Ferrari did not admit defeat and ended up developing his very own racing cars which would become one of the world’s most sought after sports car brands. A stubborn, ambitious, successful entrepreneur, Enzo Ferrari is known for his rousing and provocative statements: “If you can dream it, you can do it”; “No one remembers who took second place and that will never be me”; “Think as a winner and act as a winner. You’ll be quite likely to achieve your goal”.

Depending on where you are staying, your Ferrari will be delivered either to your accommodation or a conveniently located spot in the city centre. A member of staff will be on hand ready to show you the ropes and explain the features of your particular Ferrari model. He will sit beside you on the passenger seat throughout the test drive so as to ensure a safe, smooth experience. After a short technical briefing, jump behind the wheel of your dream car and let the adventure begin. While you cruise through cobblestone streets, past Rome’s famous landmarks and archaeological ruins, a camera installed on board your Ferrari will make sure the most sensational hour of your life is immortalized.

The roar of 250,000 cheering spectators will resonate as you drive along the Circus Maximus, one of ancient Rome’s most grandiose entertainment venues. Your passion for speed and racing cars is actually not as contemporary as you might think. This centuries-old stadium used to stage enormously popular horse and chariot races. Much like today, victorious champions became celebrities, received large sums as prizes and were adored by the crowds – especially by those fans who received generous returns on the sizeable bets they had placed. Can you hear them applauding as you gallop past on your Prancing Horse?
